The Garden Club of America and Google agree – Gertrude Jekyll was a groundbreaking landscape designer, meriting recognition, on this, the 174th anniversary, of her birth. On November 29th, Google featured a special Doodle of Jekyll in the garden, linking to additional information about this remarkable writer and designer.
What Google doesn’t mention is Jekyll’s long-standing engagement with The Garden Club of America. Jekyll’s articles were featured in the GCA’s Bulletin in 1919 and 1920 where Jekyll also regularly outlined her appreciation for the work of the GCA.
Later we'll post references to Jekyll from the GCA's archives and learn more about her inspired and artistic arrangement of flowering plants in the garden.
