1)assisting with counting, measuring and tagging plants that are species of concern in the park , such as Jack-in-the-pulpit (Arisaema triphyllum) and showy purple orchid (Galearis spectabilis, syn. Orchis spectabilis) 2) evaluate deer herbivory on Jack-in-the-pulpit (Arisaema triphyllum). Although quite common the Arisaema is small in size compared with others in the state. Plants of this size will not produce seeds despite flowering. Frequency of herbivory by deer and other animals and the effect on plant reproduction therefore will be analyzed. Data also will gathered on showy purple orchid, Galearis spectabilis (syn.Orchis spectabilis), found only in small isolated patches in the park, to determine whether these plants are pollinating and setting seed.
