Bonnie Chase
Recipient of the Elizabeth Abernathy Hull Award, 1995
Cora Hartshoren Arboretum & Bird Sanctuary, Short Hills, NJ was organized in 1986 by Bonnie Chase to help students in gardes 1 through 8 become protective stewards of their environment. Gathering at the Arboretum on Saturday mornings, they encounter a wide range of unique and challenging environmental and cultural experiences. Their projects span the globe and are as local as planting a sapling along a nearby river bank and as remote as helping to save a tropical rain forest thousands of miles away. " Ms. Chase's impact on our community has been profound. She has touched our children's lives, awakening their interets in nature and encouragingg them to joyously embrace the responsibility of protecting our world. Her commitment to education, particularly to childhood environmental education, has been felt by all she has touched. Proposed by Short Hills Garden Club, Zone IV
