Trenton Neighborhood Tree Project & Perry Street Garden, Isles, Inc, Trenton, NJ, TNT projects are school based projects that involve the school and the community in the improvement of school grounds and neighborhoods. Students and teachers learn the value of trees, other plants and gardening to the environment. These projects are currently ongoing in six Trenton schools, each in despearte need of care and concern. These students do not have opportunities for hands-on contact with nature that many suburban and rural students have. In 1994, the projects reached 2,700 students by planting street tree, shrubs and perennials, designing and planting a butterfly garden, and holding Arbor Day celebrations. Teachers are trained in the use of "grow Labs" and other environmental educations curriculum. New school sites will be added until all the schools in Trenton have gardens. TNT was noted as one of the ten best neighborhood revitalization projects in the country by the Association of Neighborhoods. Proposed by The Garden Club of Princeton. Zone IV
