The Pennington African Cemetery Association
Stony Brook Garden Club of Princeton
Stony Brook Garden Club will partner with The Pennington African Cemetery Association Educational Foundation (PACA-Ed), a nonprofit organization in conjunction with The Pennington African Cemetery Association (PACA) to create The Pennington African Cemetery Remembrance Garden in honor of the unseen souls interred within this historic landmark. The project will focus on native, pollinator plants at the entrance of the front gate as well as shade trees on the inside perimeter of the cemetery fence to highlight the importance of cultivating non-invasive plants and trees to responsibly beautify and honor the space, for the benefit of future generations.
Stony Brook Garden Club will also partner with The Stoutsburg Sourland African American Museum through monthly collaboration to foster friendship and support the importance of Black history within the Princeton community and surrounding areas.
The Pennington African Cemetery Association (PACA), was formed in the 1860’s. It is the resting place of African Americans who contributed to our community and country as business owners, farmers, and war veterans. The Pennington African Cemetery Association Educational Foundation was formed as a nonprofit organization in 2022 to fundraise and advocate for PACA.
