Restoration of Native Hardwood Forest at Foote's Pond

We propose to use this grant toward the restoration of native hardwood forest in a severely degraded and invaded area alongside a heavily used ADA-accessible trail in a well-loved natural municipal park. The park is gradually being restored by community volunteers including workers ages 4-80. This new target area lost its canopy of ash trees due to Emerald Ash Borer and the new sunlight on the forest floor is allowing the invasive plants to take over.
