Irwin Park Meadow Restoration

This project will involve hiring a professional firm to fully and effectively clear the area of weeds and invasive plants. Additionally, a professional Horticulturist and garden designer has been engaged to design the meadow. We believe that densely planting the area with native plants will offer a sustainable solution to controlling the invasive weeds.

The mown paths through this meadow will give visitors additional walking paths within the park while also allowing for a closer view and interaction with this pollinator-rich habitat. NCGC members will assist in the planting and watering of the new trees, shrubs and perennials listed below. The Town of New Canaan has already started and will continue to assist in the care of this project with the removal of dead or invasive trees as well as ongoing maintenance.
