Church Health Native Perennial Garden
Memphis Garden Club, Zone IX

Since 2016, the Memphis Garden Club (MGC) has demonstrated its commitment to community green spaces through our partnership with Church Health and Crosstown Concourse. Our cornerstone project-an educational native plant and vegetable garden— represents a $50,000 investment and countless volunteer hours from our dedicated members. Recent developments, including a $10,000 GCA Founders Fund award in 2023, have enabled us to construct a multipurpose pavilion that enhances our educational programming and community engagement capabilities.
Our track record shows both dedication and resilience. In 2019, we invested $3,000 in designing and planting a perennial garden, facing and overcoming challenges with soil preparation and irrigation systems. Through persistence and support from the Tennessee Federation of Garden Clubs, Inc., we've made significant improvements, including enhanced irrigation and soil quality upgrades. Today, we seek to build upon this foundation by further developing the synergy between our pavilion and perennial garden spaces. Our vision-"green space becomes caring space"— drives our mission to cultivate both plants and community connections.
