James Bissell
Naturalist
Jim is a naturalist undaunted by water, weather conditions, or insects when exploring a swamp or bog or fen in search of rare and endangered native plants. His field work with native plants and ability to raise funds to protect them has influenced the preservation and protection of many wild and unspoiled habitats in our vanishing natural areas. Jim has been the Curator of Botany at the Cleveland Museum of Natural History since 1972. He leads an annual "Big Dig" field trip to save endangered plants for the Garden Club of Cleveland and enjoys speaking to the Shaker Lakes GC and Akron GC as well as clubs in western Pennsylvania. Honorary Member since 2014.
