John Trexler

John Wheaton Trexler is Director Emeritus of the Worcester County Horticultural Society and Founding Director of Tower Hill Botanic Garden. He started his career at Skylands Botanic Gardens in New Jersey. In 1978 he became Superintendent of the Morris County Park Commission. In 1984 he made the decision to develop a botanic garden and move the downtown location to the present 133 1/3 acre site in Boylston, MA. He has authored several articles for the Brooklyn Botanic Garden, Audubon Magazine and The Green Scene, a publication for the Pennsylvania Horticulture Society. He most recently authored a memoir "Tower Hill the First Twenty Five Years: Selective Memories of a Benign Dictator", published June 2017. John is an award-winning gardener with a devoted passion for plants. He presently works as a public garden consultant with Blair Hines, Landscape Architect. Not only a renowned horticulturist, botanist, conservationist and educator, he is an author, a volunteer, and a gardener and is involved in plant disease research. He has received the GCA Mrs. Oakleigh Thorne Medal for outstanding achievement in garden design. Member since 2006. Member since 2006.
