Garden writer, historian, lecturer and designer working in Europe and the USA. For 14 years until 1993 she, with her husband Professor John Malins, was in charge of the National Trust Garden at Tintinhull. She has designed gardens in England, Scotland, Europe, Italy, Spain, Germany and the United States, (including an Herb Garden for the New York Botanical Garden). In 1997 she designed a garden for Queen Elizabeth, the Queen Mother at Walmer Castle. Her publications include: Color in Your Garden, Garden Style, Plants in Garden History, Penelope Hobhouse on Gardening, Penelope Hobhouse's Garden Designs, Penelope Hobhouse's Natural Planting and Gardens of Persia. She is retired and does not give any more lectures. Member since 1999.
