Born in Canada, he is a published photographer of numerous books on nature. His photographs illustrate his sensitivity and long timework on behalf of the environment. He has a long history of involvement with non-profit organizations. His photographic prints have been collected by private individuals and by institutions such as the Fogg Museum, the Museum of Modern Art, the Musee Francais de la Photographie, the Minneapolis Institute of Art, the Chrysler Museum, the Santa Barbara Museum of Art and the Worcester Art Museum. Member since 2002.
