Peggy Moore
2025 Bonnylin Woods Martin Medal
For her creativity, dedication to the development of the art of floral design, and national and international achievement.
Proposed by: Fairfield Garden Club, Zone II
Peggy Moore, Fairfield GC, Zone II, is a luminary in the realm of floral design. For more than 30 years, Peggy's national and international achievements have served as a testament to her passion for floral design, judging, and teaching. Her relentless pursuit of excellence and desire to develop the art are marked by her willingness to embrace new techniques and opportunities and her eagerness to share her knowledge with others.
Peggy's designs are hailed by experts for their balance and color, showcasing her technical mastery and innovation. Robin Hardman, Akron GC, Zone X, notes that “what truly sets Peggy apart is her dedication to pushing the boundaries of floral design.” This sentiment is echoed by Kathy Powell, Peachtree GC, Zone VIII, and the GCA’s 2020 Bonnylin Woods Martin medalist, who wrote that Peggy’s “works of art have inspired a whole new generation of GCA designers.”
Peggy actively mentors budding designers globally. Gay Austin, current president of the United States Floral Design Society (USFDS), former president of the National Garden Clubs, Inc., and an NGC master flower show judge, writes, Peggy “has encouraged and inspired all to broaden their knowledge of floral design…. helping them grow with increased confidence in the floral artistry world.”
Apart from more than a dozen GCA floral design awards, her many honors include awards from the Newport Flower Show and the PHS Philadelphia Flower Show. Peggy served as president (2016–18) of the USFDS, and at the 2020 WAFA World Flower Show in Jaipur, India, she was selected as the single USFDS judge to represent the US.
The Bonnylin Woods Martin Medal is presented for the most consistently innovative floral designs. The purpose of the medal is to recognize flower arrangers at the highest level and to encourage their participation in GCA and international flower shows.
The Bonnylin Woods Martin Medal was endowed by Audrey Taylor Gonzalez in honor of Bonnylin “Bonny” Woods Martin (1933–2022), Memphis Garden Club, Zone IX, a distinguished flower arranger, judge, and Flower Show Committee chair (1996–98). Bonny received the Natalie Peters Webster Medal in 1982 for her horticultural acumen and the Katharine Thomas Cary Medal in 2012 for floral design education. The Martin Medal was first awarded in 1998 and was designed by S. Paul West.
