The Garden Club of America honored Mr. Bryan for his visionary civic leadership, dedication to historic preservation, and commitment to the advancement of the arts.
Bryan, who was also the CEO of Sara Lee Corporation, was known outside the business world for his stewardship of built and natural landscapes. Today, he is widely credited with helping transform downtown Chicago after raising more than $200 million dollars in private funds for the $475 million urban renewal project, now known as Millennium Park.
