The GCA, Seed Your Future and the Power of Plants

BLOOM! Campaign Announced

The Garden Club of America is pleased to be working with Seed Your Future to connect youth to the power of plants. Why?

In 2019, 56.6 million kids are enrolled in K-12 schools across the country. The majority of them don’t know anything about plants — how to grow them, how they impact lives, and how they are critical to the future of the planet. Without plants, there’s no future. And that’s why we are working hard to turn this around. In 2018, Seed Your Future, the GCA and partners around the country helped reached almost 1 million kids with a middle-school BLOOM! campaign. What’s happening in 2019?

Seed Your Future and participating partners will work to provide:

• more lesson plans and activities for in-school and out-of-school plant exploration
• new online tools to learn about the 93 careers of working with plants
• great videos about plants, plant careers, and the joy of gardening
• activities in communities across the country to connect kids with plants

Seed Your Future also promotes storytelling as an important way to share the power of plants with the next generation. Click here to share your stories that inspire and work to teach children about the importance of plants. They will be collecting and highlighting stories all year!
