Over 300 club delegates to hear from educational speakers in Washington, D.C.

The GCA hosts its annual National Affairs and Legislation Conference in Washington, D.C. every February. Over a period of two days, delegates — who are members of GCA clubs — hear compelling speakers from conservation nonprofits, scientists and writers to congressmen and women from both sides of aisle. A day is also dedicated to visits to Congressional offices on Capitol Hill. Presentations focus on important topics from the GCA's Position Papers as they pertain to relevant legislation and federal administrative actions.

Speakers for the 2019 conference include: David Yarnold, President and CEO National Audubon Society; Janis Searles Jones, CEO Ocean Conservancy; Toddi Steelman, Stanback Dean, Nicholas School of the Environment, Duke University; Mark Falzone, President, Scenic America; Carrie Barratt, President, New York Botanical Garden; Ari Novy, President and CEO of the San Diego Botanic Garden; Kayri Havens, Medard and Elizabeth Welch Director, Plant Science and Conservation, Chicago Botanic Garden; Doug Adamo, Chief, Natural Resource Stewardship Division, Gateway National Recreation Area of Staten Island; Allison Whipple Rockefeller, Founding Chair, Rachel Carson Awards Council; Katharine Hayhoe, Professor of Climate Science, Texas Tech University; Mark Bittman, Author.
