A group of national organizations— including The Garden Club of America, American Society of Landscape Architects, National Association for Olmsted Parks, City Parks Alliance, The Cultural Landscape Foundation, and the Frederick Law Olmsted National Historic Site—announced today plans to coordinate a national celebration honoring the life, leadership, and legacy of Frederick Law Olmsted. April 26, 2022 marks the 200th birthday of Olmsted, the creative genius who transformed the American landscape and who was also an author, journalist, city planner, and public official.
Olmsted 2022 - The Legacy will promote a national community-based celebration of parks, places, and policies inspired by the Olmsted legacy and stimulate a national discussion about access to parks and civic space for all Americans. Landscapes designed by Olmsted and his firm are located in 45 states and Canada. The Olmsted 2022 website will share announcements about the celebration and related events as plans unfold.
