Jewelry made of seeds, rocks, dried plant material, and beans date back to prehistoric days. Now the presence of botanical jewelry, along with paintings and other forms of botanical arts are bedazzling flower show judges, as well as visitors to GCA flower shows around the country. The upcoming 2020 flower show season will demonstrate a sustained cultural appreciation of natural materials in artistic expression.
The botanical arts division in a GCA Flower Show showcases high levels of skill and creativity. Classes may include botanical jewelry, botanical embellishment (enhancing a man-made object), botanical couture (items of clothing and/or other accessories designed from dried plant material), pressed plants, artistic crafts, and needlework.
Some of the country’s most prestigious flower shows are adding additional classes of botanical arts to their schedules. The creative artistry of the designers who produce outstanding work, together with the fan’s interest in these entries are bringing this division into the limelight.
Check the list below for upcoming GCA Flower Shows around the country that include a Botanical Arts Class.
