On April 22, 1970, the first Earth Day activated 20 million Americans to join the environmental movement driving transformative change for people and the planet. The passage of the landmark Clean Air Act and Clean Water Act, which The Garden Club of America actively supported, soon followed. Today, there are more than 1 billion participants supporting Earth Day activities.
