The Garden Club of America has awarded $306,000 in scholarships for the 2020-2021 year recognizing 64 scholars at the undergraduate and graduate levels. In addition, $9,000 has been awarded to nine Hull Award recipients, recognizing local champions who teach children a love and concern for the natural environment.
The scholarships cover study in the fields of botany, coastal wetlands, ecological restoration, desert studies, national parks conservation, garden history and design, landscape architecture, conservation horticulture, horticulture, native plant studies, pollinator research, environmental studies, and urban forestry. Since 1928 when the first GCA scholarship, the Rome Prize Fellowship in Landscape Architecture was established, the GCA has funded more than 1,300 scholars.
