The Garden Club of St. Louis Surprises Senior Care Residents

How do you turn a canceled wedding and the mandatory closing of a small business into one happy ending? When the members of The Garden Club of St. Louis heard about both of these situations in their community, they came up with a creative idea. Using leftover club funds, some of the wedding centerpieces were purchased at a discount. Flowers from the closing floral business were purchased as well, and dozens of floral arrangements were created. The centerpieces and arrangements were then delivered to two senior care facilities, much to the delight of the residents.

Due to social-distancing restrictions, most of the homes’ residents hadn’t been able to see family members for months, so the idea was to bring a little cheer to them. The managers at the homes were thrilled to distribute the flowers to individual rooms as well as public spaces.

This kind gesture paid off in wins for all involved – supporting two local florists, saving the bride’s family some money, and, of course, bringing some joy to senior citizens during these unusual pandemic times.
