The Albemarle Garden Club (AGC) spread holiday cheer in Charlottesville, Virginia, in two very different yet inspired ways.  First, at AGC’s annual Christmas greens workshop, members crafted and later delivered over 60 holiday greens arrangements to 14 local civic and nonprofit organizations in their community, ranging from Sheriff’s Department to Hospice of the Piedmont.

But the festive spirit didn’t stop there! The club members packed up leftover greens and ferried them to the Barry and William Battle UVA Children’s Hospital Building to repurpose them in another holiday tradition they dubbed “Greens Flash”.  There, the club members dressed the bronze storybook animal sculptures in Christmas finery, draping them in swags of green, festive ornaments, and bows. The greenery bedecked gaggle of bronze geese, the crouching fox and a sweet turtle never looked so jolly or so warm!  Children watched with delight from the hospital windows above as the “Greens Flash” team transformed the sculptures with holiday magic, conveying evergreen hope and the true spirit of the season.
