Charleston, West Virginia, is reimagining its future—one tree at a time

The GCA has awarded its $40,000 Founders Fund grant to the Appalachian Spring Project, which will plant 1,000 flowering trees along streets, parks, and riverbanks—supporting environmental health, community well-being, and economic growth.

Led by local leaders and garden club members, this effort promotes cleaner air, pollinator habitats, shaded public spaces, and a revitalized Kanawha Riverfront 🌿

Runners-up will each receive $15,000 for projects in New Orleans, LA, and Palm Beach County, FL.

Founded in 1934, the Founders Fund supports member-led projects that restore and protect the environment through conservation and civic improvement.
