The Garden Club of America Loses a Dear Friend: Nathaniel Reed, 1934 - 2018

The Garden Club of America mourns the loss of environmental advocate, fisherman and friend, Nathaniel Reed.

Over the last three decades, Mr. Reed has been the recipient of not one but two national GCA awards, recognizing his courageous and visionary actions on behalf of the environment.

In 2010, he received the GCA’s Elizabeth Craig Weaver Proctor Medal “in recognition of his lifelong commitment to conservation and preservation of our natural resources and his tireless efforts to promote environmental issues.”

He also received the GCA’s Francis K. Hutchinson Medal in 1976, which recognized him as a “true conservationist, knowledgeable, dedicated, courageous, and staunch.”
