The GCA Celebrates National Pollinator Week

June 16, 2022

Bees, Birds, Bats, and Beetles

National Pollinator Week 2022 will be celebrated during the week of June 20-26. The annual event was initiated and is managed by The Pollinator Partnership. In 2006, the U.S. Senate’s unanimous approval and designation of a week in June as “National Pollinator Week” marked a necessary step toward addressing the urgent issue of declining pollinator populations.

Pollinator Week has now grown into an international celebration, promoting the valuable ecosystem services provided by bees, birds, butterflies, bats, and beetles. Popular events include planting for pollinators, hosting garden tours, participating in online bee and butterfly ID workshops, and so much more.

The Pollinator Partnership was awarded The Garden Club of America’s Cynthia Pratt Laughlin Medal in 2011 for championing pollinators. For more information please visit www.pollinator.org/pollinator-week
