Peachtree Garden Club Opens the Doors to its 2023 Christmas Home Tour

November 29, 2023

Proceeds benefit organizations emphasizing conservation, horticulture, and landscape design

In 2008, members of Peachtree Garden Club (PGC)  in Atlanta, Georgia, revived a beloved club tradition—an early December tour of local homes adorned with greenery and floral design to celebrate the Christmas season. To produce the annual Christmas Home Tour, PGC club members enjoy the camaraderie of collaborating with multiple generations to design and create decorations that complement each homeowner’s own holiday ornaments. Atlantans flock to the festive and uniquely decorated houses.

The Christmas Home Tour has raised almost $1,000,000 for the club’s Community Fund, and these funds flow back into the community through grants to numerous organizations. Recent recipients include Atlanta Botanical Garden, the Atlanta History Center and Swan Woods, Chattahoochee Riverkeepers, Historic Oakland Cemetery, and the Shepherd Center. Recipients represent both long-term associations and new interests within the community, with emphasis placed on scientific and educational needs in the fields of conservation, horticulture, and landscape design.

One of the club’s most beloved programs each year is an annual visit and luncheon with the Neel Reid Scholars, whose scholarships are supported by funds from the Christmas Home Tour.  In 1947, Peachtree Garden Club established the Neel Reid Scholarship Fund to provide support for Landscape Architecture students at University of Georgia’s College of Environment and Design.  Both undergraduate and graduate students apply for an endowed scholarship award named after renowned Georgia architect Neel Reid (1885-1926), founder of the Georgia School of Classicists and a celebrated garden designer dedicated to preservation and contextual design. There are typically over a dozen awards made each year. PGC club members thoroughly enjoy getting to know the scholars during their time at UGA, and enthusiastically follow their careers in the landscape and design world.

This year’s Christmas Home Tour runs Thursday, December 7 from 10 a.m. to 3 pm. For tickets and information, go to
