Purpose

Established to encourage the development of research, documentation, and teaching skills in the field of horticulture.

Level of Education

for undergraduates, graduate students, advanced degree candidates, or non-degree-seeking applicants above the high school level

Eligibility

Open to college undergraduates, graduate students, and advanced degree candidates, or non-degree-seeking applicants above the high school level. Eligibility is open to U.S. Citizens and permanent residents who are enrolled in a U.S. based institution. Due to IRS restrictions, GCA is unable to fund awards for international applicants.

Provisions

Funds one or more scholarships annually at $3000 to support study at an accredited college, university, or major botanic garden or arboretum. Projects may include but are not restricted to plant propagation, photographic documentation of studies and research projects, the acquisition of skills for working with horticulture collections, and research in horticulture in the broadest sense. 

Selection

Selection is by members of the GCA Scholarship Committee and a member of the Chestnut Hill Garden Club.

Established in 2010.

See application and instructions. Applications must be received at GCA Headquarters in New York City by February 1st preceding the period of study. PLEASE NOTE: ONLY ONE GCA SCHOLARSHIP, FELLOWSHIP OR AWARD MAY BE APPLIED FOR ANNUALLY.
