To promote, expand and enrich the body of research concerning the coast by actively supporting graduate students in the field of coastal wetlands science.
Open to graduate students.
Open to graduate students pursuing advanced degrees in coastal wetlands science. Eligibility is open to U.S. Citizens and permanent residents who are enrolled in a U.S. - based institution. Due to IRS restrictions, GCA is unable to fund awards for international applicants.
$5000annually to one graduate student in field based wetlands research.This coastal wetlands focus is defined as those tidal or nontidal wetlands found within coastal states, including the Great Lakes.
All applications will be reviewed by a selection committee of practicing wetlands scientists and approved by the GCA Scholarship Committee.
Begun in 1966 by Mrs. Robert D. Sterling with Mrs. Avery Rockefeller, The Anne M. Rockefeller Fund was established to support Mrs. Rockefeller's work on the environmental education packet entitled The World Around You. The fund also co-underwrote Scientists on Biodiversity, with the American Museum of Natural History. In 1999, Mrs. Edward S. Elliman, daughter of Mrs. Rockefeller decided to sharpen the fund’s focus to concentrate on coastal wetlands research, which was approved by the Garden Club of America Executive Board.
