2025 The Keller Scholarship in Conservation Horticulture
Communicating Conservation: One Seed at a Time
The mission of the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center is to “inspire the conservation of native plants” in Texas and beyond. That is what I plan to do this summer as I curate an educational exhibit highlighting the seed collection and banking efforts of the Center’s Science and Conservation department. In late spring and summer, I will scout and collect native species that are targeted due to their imperiled conservation status such as Salvia pentstemenoides and Quercus hinckleyi. I plan to take my hands-on experience on collecting trips and turn it into a way for visitors to engage with conservation work at the Center.
The Keller Scholarship in Conservation Horticulture
To promote plant conservation capacity and coordination among botanic gardens, and/or public gardens, in the United States through programs of Botanic Gardens Conservation International-US (BGCI-US) in collaboration with The Garden Club of America (GCA).
