2025 The Douglas Dockery Thomas Fellowship in Garden History and Design

The Recount of the Philadelphia Gardener

For the 2025 Douglas Dockery Thomas Fellowship, my project will focus on exploring the historical and contemporary significance of gardening in Philadelphia. Throughout this project, my focus is placed on discovering the role that Philadelphia gardens play in cultural preservation, community building and urban resilience. Furthermore, by capturing the essence of my research through photography and map making, this project aims to highlight the voices that make up Philadelphia's garden network and how they each support the larger network of community development.

The Douglas Dockery Thomas Fellowship in Garden History and Design

To further the study of history and design in the American garden and to look to the future of gardens and their unique place in our environment.
