Repopulate the Pawpaw
The goal of the project is to propagate native fruit trees from seed that can be used in riparian restoration projects at the State University of New York (SUNY) at Cobleskill. The fruit tree of focus is the Pawpaw tree (Asimina triloba), North America's largest native fruit. In this project, I’ll be propagating 250-350 Pawpaw to the seedling stage using the resources available at the greenhouses on the university campus. My primary research and study objectives are gaining hands-on experience with implementing the best methods for growing and maintaining pawpaw groves, recording and analyzing tree survival and growth.
