Tree-herbaceous interactions as mediators of biotic resistance against invasive plant species in a hyper-diverse African savanna
African savannas are facing increasing rates of plant invasions, and it is unknown what specific ecological dynamics influence the rate of establishment and spread of invasives within savanna systems. This research utilizes comprehensive surveys of habitat use and performance by non-native plant species at Mpala Research Centre in central Kenya to identify how local interactions with trees, which modify multiple vectors of resistance against plant invasions in positive and negative ways, shape savanna ecosystem's resistance to plant invasions.
