2026 The Zeller Summer Scholarship in Medicinal Botany
Conservation Research of Species of Concern in the Darhad Valley of Mongolia
This summer, I will be working with Round River Conservation Studies. Round River is a study-abroad organization that works internationally, for this program in collaboration with Tengis-Shishged National Park in Mongolia. They conduct a variety of conservation projects across community and population scales of many organisms. Specifically, in my time in Mongolia, I will be assisting a demography research project on a critically-endangered, culturally significant medicinal plant in the high mountain regions of East Asia (Saussurea dorogostaiskii). I am hoping to help generate more information for local conservation entities to improve the protection of this species and many more.
