2020 The Katharine M. Grosscup Scholarships in Horticulture
Jenna Happach is a master’s student in landscape architecture at the School for Environment and Sustainability at the University of Michigan. She is passionate about ecological resilience, ecological design, natural landscaping, native plant propagation, and soil ecology. She completed AmeriCorps service at the Monongahela National Forest, where she assisted in high-elevation red spruce restoration, botanical surveys, and education and outreach activities. As part of this experience, she gained her Incident Qualification Card, allowing her to work as a wildland firefighter. Happach also worked in youth education at Michigan’s Matthaei Botanical Gardens and Nichols Arboretum, where she led visitor groups and created activities for children’s events.
