2021 The Katharine M. Grosscup Scholarships in Horticulture

Happach employs ecological principles and focuses on evidence based design, while integrating practices in social sciences and environmental justice. Her capstone project includes working on an interdisciplinary team to review and update a long-term restoration and management plan, as well as developing a community engagement plan for Michigan Audubon’s Bernard W. Baker Sanctuary. She designed an educational garden for the site that showcases native plant species that support birds, and will be leading a team in its installation.
