2025 The Corliss Knapp Engle Scholarship in Horticulture
Developing a Liquid Organic Fertilizer and Soilless Substrate Protocol for Highwire Tomato and Cucumber Production in a Controlled Environment
My research focuses on the use of OMRI-approved organic fertilizer with soilless substrates in containerized hydroponic systems. Currently, we are working to find the best combination of organic fertilizers that will meet the nutritional needs of highwire tomato or cucumber plants. Next, we hope to determine what OMRI-approved organic substrate works best with the fertilizer(s) and share our discoveries with CEA growers.
