Sustainable Senegal: the Study of Traditional Medicine and Culture, Food Systems Fieldwork, and the Path to Climate Resiliency
Upon the duration of a study abroad program focusing on culture and traditional medicine, I will use what I have learned to embark on my independent studies. As a result of climate change, desertification in Senegal threatens agricultural systems, the economy, and local communities, sparking a network movements that target climate resilience. With a political and social state committed to shedding a post-colonial framework, my research and fieldwork on community land management and practices such as agroecology will explore how effectively these practices work to restore power in communities while sustaining the land and people impacted by ecological and agricultural changes.
