Prescribed Fire Management Affects on Species Diversity and Richness of Plants in the Asteraceae in Remnant and Restored Prairies
Sadler’s research examines how prescribed fire management affects the abundance and diversity of Asteraceae species in remnant and restored prairies. Using transect survey techniques, they will assess around 15 remnant and 30 restored prairie sites across western Minnesota—where less than 1% of native prairie remains. By investigating fire’s role in shaping Asteraceae plant communities, the most diverse plant family worldwide, this study aims to fill a critical knowledge gap in restoration science and inform more effective management strategies for prairie conservation.
