Melissa Hey is from Midlothian, VA, with an academic concentration in biology and environmental science is a junior at the College of William and Mary. Her interest is in understanding how biochemistry can mold plant-herbivore interactions. Her project goals will be to understand population dynamics and plant-insect interaction of the common milkweed, which is found in many places and exhibits unique defensive responses to damages by herbivorous insects. The monarch butterfly will be primary in this research. Her professional goal is to be an ecological restoration consultant.
