Scale of Change: Measuring the Impact of Native Cover Cropping on Soil Microbiome Community Composition in an Urban Brownfield
Former industrial sites, or urban brownfields, are found across the urban environment and have varying pollutant levels. They present an opportunity to be restored to native habitat, enhancing the biodiversity and function of urban ecosystems. This project will expand on-going research on the soil health and microbiome of one of urban brownfield, the Urban Farm Riverside, at the University of Oregon. This study involves applied research to understand the relationship between native plants and the soil microbiome at improving soil conditions.
