Digestion Dynamics: Linking Digestion State to Consumption Time in Summer Flounder (paralichthys Dentatus)
This project is a laboratory tank project where summer flounders will be sampled at designated time intervals after feeding to characterize the physical breakdown of prey over time. To account for metabolic changes due to seasonal variations in ambient ocean temperatures, there will be three separate temperature treatments. This research will provide additional context to existing visual gut content studies and improve confidence in site-specific monitoring projects aimed at understanding how development will impact an area’s trophodynamics.
