2025 The Garden Club of America Summer Scholarship in Field Botany
An Updated Census of the Native and Non-native Plants in Bates County: an Under-surveyed Region in Western Missouri.
This project consists of a county wide floristic survey of Bates County, Missouri, which is known to be under-surveyed for its vascular plant diversity compared to many surrounding counties. Of the 342 collections I've made so far, 35 were county records. Based on an analysis of reliable herbarium records in online database aggregators, my advisor believes somewhere between 200 and 400 additional county records could be documented.
