BotanySam Kilgore
2019 The Garden Club of America Summer Scholarship in Field Botany
Sam Kilgore is a master’s student studying plant biology and conservation at Northwestern University and the Chicago Botanic Garden. He is investigating the above- and below-ground habitat requirements for Viola pedati da, a species of prairie violet that is often excluded from use in restorations due to low establishment rates. His goal is to increase the diversity of options available to natural area restorations across the Midwest.
