“investigating the Importance of Genetic Diversity in a Salt Marsh Foundation Species in an Era of Human Driven Global Change”
Coastal salt marshes are ecosystems with low interspecific diversity, and instead are built on a few foundation plant species that support their biodiversity. However, as sea levels rise and human impacts worsen, these few plant species are being lost. This study aims to study the level of intraspecific (within species) diversity needed to maintain biodiversity and ecosystem functioning in Mid-Atlantic salt marshes.
