Capstone Project in Flood Mitigation Through Wetland Design
My capstone project for my Master's degree in Landscape Architecture will focus on flood mitigation in the Philadelphia region. More specifically, I will choose a real world site that could play a role in mitigating flooding for the region, and I will create a wetland design for that site that is designed to increase the site's flood storage capacity, filter contaminants from water, and provide habitat for local flora and fauna. My research will include how humans can live in symbiosis with wetlands, including using wetlands as sources of food and shelter in a way that benefits the species in the wetlands as well.
