$377,500 awarded to 73 scholars!

The Garden Club of America has awarded $377,500 in scholarships for the 2019-2020 year recognizing 73 scholars at the undergraduate and graduate level. In addition, 13 Hull Awards were granted recognizing local champions who teach children a love and concern for the natural environment.

The scholarships cover study in the fields of botany, coastal wetlands, desert studies, pollinator research, urban forestry, garden history and design, conservation and ecological restoration, birds, and landscape architecture. The scholars are studying climate-driven changes in coastal vegetation and the impact on the bird community, invasion resistant plants in tall grass prairie restoration, sustainable seed mixes that outcompete weed species, and exploring fire-resistant desert plants among many others. Since 1928, the GCA has funded nearly 1400 scholars. To learn more about the scholarships and 2019-2020 GCA scholars, CLICK HERE.
